Dear brothers and sisters,

today, marked by the austere symbol of ashes, we enter the Season of Lent, beginning a spiritual journey that prepares us to celebrate the Easter mysteries. Rediscovering the Saints - St. Clare of Assisi

Back to the weekly, aimed at the discovery of our beloved saints! Today, the day dedicated to women, rediscover the story of a holy woman who has stood out for his strong faith that has made it similar to Blessed Francis of Assisi with whom he shared the path of love and faith, she is known as St. Clare of Assisi .
Following the usual biographical section, we reflect his will:

[2846] Using 58 of these virtues, and not for our merits, but only for the mercy and grace of the Father, Giver of Mercy (see 2 Corinthians 1:3); always pour forth the aroma (see 2 Cor 2:15) of their good reputation on those that are far, how about those who are close.

[2847] 59 And loving each other in Christ's love, love you have in your hearts be shown outside the works (cf. James 2:18), 60 so that the sisters, by such an example, continues to grow in the love of God and in charity.

Dear brothers and sisters!

The Gospel of this Sunday presents the conclusion of the "Sermon on the Mount, where the Lord Jesus, through the parable of two houses built on a rock and the other on the sand, invites the disciples to listen to his words and put them into practice (cf. Mt 7:24). In this way he places the disciple and his journey of faith in the horizon, constituted by the relationship with the man that God weaves through the gift of his Word, and enter into dialogue with us. The Second Vatican Council states: "the invisible God in his love speaks to men as friends and moves among them, and to invite them into fellowship with Him." (Dogmatic Constitution. On Divine Revelation Dei Verbum, 2). "In this view, every man seems to be the recipient of the Word, called and asked to enter the dialogue of love with an essay" (Apostolic Exhortation. Postsin. Verbum Domini, 22). Jesus is the living Word of God when they taught, the people recognized in his words the same divine authority, he felt the closeness of the Lord, il suo amore misericordioso, e rendeva lode a Dio. In ogni epoca e in ogni luogo, chi ha la grazia di conoscere Gesù, specialmente attraverso la lettura del santo Vangelo, ne rimane affascinato, riconoscendo che nella sua predicazione, nei suoi gesti, nella sua Persona Egli ci rivela il vero volto di Dio, e al tempo stesso rivela noi a noi stessi, ci fa sentire la gioia di essere figli del Padre che è nei cieli, indicandoci la base solida su cui edificare la nostra vita.

Ma spesso l’uomo non costruisce il suo agire, la sua esistenza, su questa identità, e preferisce le sabbie delle ideologie, del potere, del successo e del denaro, pensando di trovarvi stabilità e la risposta alla insopprimibile domanda di felicità e di pienezza che porta nella propria anima. E noi, su che cosa vogliamo costruire la nostra vita? Chi può rispondere veramente all’inquietudine del nostro cuore? Cristo è la roccia della nostra vita! Egli è la Parola eterna e definitiva che non fa temere ogni sorta di avversità, ogni difficoltà, ogni disagio (cfr Verbum Domini, 10). Possa la Parola di Dio permeare tutta la nostra vita, pensiero e azione, così come proclama la prima lettura della Liturgia odierna tratta dal Libro del Deuteronomio: “Porrete dunque nel cuore e nell’anima queste mie parole; ve le legherete alla mano come un segno e le terrete come un pendaglio tra gli occhi” (11,18). Cari fratelli, vi esorto a fare spazio, ogni giorno, alla Parola di Dio, a nutrirvi di essa, a meditarla continuamente. È un prezioso aiuto anche per mettersi al riparo da un attivismo superficiale, che può soddisfare per un momento l’orgoglio, ma che, alla fine, lascia vuoti e insoddisfatti.

Invochiamo l’aiuto della Vergine Maria la cui esistenza è stata segnata dalla fedeltà alla Parola di Dio. La contempliamo nell’Annunciazione, ai piedi della Croce e, ora, partecipe della gloria del Cristo Risorto. Come Lei, vogliamo rinnovare il nostro “sì” e affidare con fiducia a Dio il nostro cammino.

But today the problem goes far beyond the necessary recognition of these personal situations. It stands at the cultural, social and political level, where its most sinister and disturbing in the trend, more and more widely shared, to interpret the above crimes against life as legitimate expressions of individual freedom, be recognized and protected as actual and their rights. St. Francis de Sales

Dear brothers and sisters,

"Dieu est le Dieu du coeur humain" [God is the God of the human heart] (Treaty of Love God, I, XV): in these seemingly simple words we take the mark of a great master of spirituality, of which I speak today, St. Francis de Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the Church. Born in 1567 in a border region of France, was the son of Lord Boisy, an ancient and noble family of Savoy. If the same text of Scripture has more meaning

seem that the same text of Scripture does not enclose more than one sense, that is the historical or literal, the allegorical, the moral or tropological, and anagogical. And indeed:
1. The multiplicity of meaning in the same text is confusing and misleading and takes away any strength to the argument: and indeed the multiplicity of propositions does not allow a correct argument, but it gives rise to some fallacies (as exhibited in Logic). Now, the Scripture must be effective in showing us the truth without any fallacy. Therefore it does not give more meaning devon in a single text.
2. Says S. Augustine: "Scripture, called the Old Testament is presented in four aspects: ie, according to history, etiology, analogy and allegory." Now, this division seems quite different from the previous year. It is therefore fitting that the same text of Scripture is exposed according to these four directions.

3. He added that over the four senses assigned c'è quello parabolico, che non è computato in quei quattro.


IN CONTRARIO : Dice S. Gregorio: "La sacra Scrittura per il modo stesso di esprimersi sorpassa tutte le altre scienze: poiché in uno stesso e identico discorso mentre racconta un fatto enuncia un mistero".


RISPONDO: L'autore della sacra Scrittura è Dio. Ora, Dio può non solo adattare parole per esprimere una verità, ciò che può anche l'uomo; ma anche le cose stesse. Quindi, se nelle altre scienze le parole hanno un significato, la sacra Scrittura ha questo in proprio: che le cose stesse indicate dalla parola, alla loro volta ne significano un'altra. L'accezione ovvia dei termini, secondo cui le parole indicano la realtà, corrisponde al primo senso che è il senso storico o letterale. Usare invece le cose stesse espresse dalle parole per significare altre cose si chiama senso spirituale, il quale è fondato sopra quello letterale e lo presuppone.
Il senso spirituale poi ha una triplice suddivisione. Dice infatti l'Apostolo che la Legge Antica è figura della Nuova; e la Legge Nuova, come dice Dionigi, è figura della gloria futura; così pure nella Legge Nuova le cose compiutesi nel Capo stanno a significare quelle che dobbiamo fare noi. Secondoché dunque le cose dell'Antico Testamento significano quelle del Nuovo, si ha il senso allegorico: secondoché poi le cose compiutesi in Cristo o significanti Cristo, sono sign of what we do ourselves, we have the moral sense at last because they signify things pertaining to eternal glory, there is a sense anagogical.
But because the literal meaning is what the author intends, and besides, the author of Sacred Scripture is God who simultaneously embraces all things with his intellect, there is no difficulty in admitting, with S. Augustine, who also according to the literal sense in the same scriptural text there are several ways.


Reply to À : 1. The multiplicity of these senses does not lead to misunderstanding or other anfibologie, since, as we said, these senses are multiplied by the fact that the same word means many things, but simply because the things signified by the words may be a sign of other things. And so it's no fear of confusion in the Holy Scripture, because all the other senses are based on a single sense, the literal, from which only legitimate argument, and not from the allegorical sense, as noted by S. Augustine. Not for this is lacking something in the Sacred Scripture, because nothing needed to faith is contained in a spiritual sense, that the Scripture clearly does not express literally in some other text.


2. Those three ways to explain the Scripture history, etiology, analogy belong to the one literally. History, as explained by the same S. Augustine, is when you expose a simple thing, etiology, when you assign the cause to what is said, like when the Lord told why Moses allowed the Jews to divorce his wife, that is the hardness of their hearts analogy , when you see that the truth of a passage of Scripture is not inconsistent with the truth of another step. In the division to four members (made by St. Augustine) the allegory itself corresponds to the three spiritual senses. So Hugh S. Victor places under the name of allegory the sense anagogic, ranks in the third book of his Sentences only three ways, historical, allegorical, and tropological.


3. Il senso parabolico è incluso nel letterale; infatti con la parola si esprime qualche cosa in senso proprio, e qualche cosa in senso figurato; ma il senso letterale non è già la figura, ma il figurato. Quando, p. es., la Scrittura parla del braccio di Dio, il senso letterale non è che in Dio vi sia questo membro corporale; ma ciò che tale membro simboleggia, cioè la potenza operativa. Di qui appare chiaro che nel senso letterale della Scrittura mai può esservi errore.
